Currently, the army recruits young people for 10 years which can be extended to 14 years. Under the new proposal, those admitted under TOD for 3 years would be eligible to be deployed as combatants in key forward locations and there would be no restriction in their roles.

- The Indian Army is looking to engage the youth for a three-year "Tour of Duty (ToD) tenure as officers and jawans."
- The TOD scheme, if approved, will initially be launched with about 100 vacancies for officers and 1,000 for jawans.
- According to the army, a tour of duty officer will earn Rs 80,000-90,000 per month. After the tenure of tour of duty, youth can find attractive private and public sector jobs.
- If an officer or soldier becomes a casualty in battle, all the benefits can be given to them or their families.

- Soldier General (GD Jawan) - 10th Pass (10th Pass)
- Soldier Technical - 12th pass
- For Officer - Graduate
Age Range:
- For Soldier GD: 17: 21 years.
- For Officers: 21 to 34 years.
Note: Age limit may vary in actual notification. Upper age limit will be relaxed up to 30 years of age in certain conditions.

the wages:
- The selected candidate for Soldier Post will get between Rs 30,000 to Rs 40,000 per month.
- The selected candidates will get Rs 80,000 to Rs 90,000 per month for the officer post.
